By default in Windows Xp the Shut down button is already added on Log On screen. You might not be required to remove this button until you find a situation where a family member of yours want to check important documents in his username and you need to switch users, if in case he turns off the computer and you are having some running programs, then what can be done. Well, to that only here is a solution you can try at your own PC’s

Disable Turn off on Startup
Now to remove this option follow these steps.

  1. Go to Administrative tools in Control Panel (make sure you are logged in as Administrator).
  2. In Administrative Tools, go to Local security policy.
  3. In this window open Local Policy –> Security Options, and then on the right look for option that says, Shutdown: Allow system to be shut down without having to log on.
  4. Open this Policy and choose Disabled, and click OK.

That’s it, it is all done. Now you will not see that button again.
